Thanksgiving in February

I know- I'm a bit late for Thanksgiving- even a bit late for Valentine's Day, but I have a brief break in between projects right now as I wait for some woolen sweaters I'm imaging winging their way across the Atlantic.  I am- of course- handily filling up my time with working around the house, garden plans for the coming spring, sewing, working on marketing materials and just playing with my Little Man.  I thought that I would pause and take a minute to observe a tradition in the Weston family and in our circle of friends back in Michigan.

The holidays are always so hectic that our small group from church has taken to celebrating Thanksgiving after all of the running around has ended and placed it at the end of February.  We're talking a complete American Thanksgiving meal- Turkey, mashed potatoes (typically Jim's area of expertise after I managed to cut my thumb pretty good while peeling potatoes one year) cranberry sauce and pies for dessert.

We used that time to simply relax and enjoy each others company, and this often led to more of a holiday spirit than some real Thanksgivings I've celebrated. Although we are now in Minnesota and can no longer celebrate Small Group Thanksgiving, I would like to take the opportunity to think about all that I have to be thankful for- and there truly is so much, but I thougth due to the closeness of another holiday I would comment on how thankful I am for my two Valentines this year.

For Valentine's Day my dear husband is usually in New York at a major convention for his job in sales, but this year we were able to have a day to celebrate and so we went out to lunch at a small romantic cafe in nearby stillwater-- although we were accompanied by my smaller Valentine.  I am so Thankful this year to have both of them in my life, but my mind is especially thankful that my Little Man is here and healthy and so, so strong.  It is still hard to believe that at this time last year, he was not even here on the outside yet.

Preview for Reveal Design

Here is a preview of what I am working on for Jason, over at Reveal Design. I am so excited to work with my first furniture client and to photograph such unique and beautiful choices of wood and other upcycled comoponents of his designs.
